Edinburgh – where to Eat, Drink & Shop:

Edinburgh is plentiful when it comes to places to eat and drink. Rose Street is the standard thoroughfare where you’ll get a good variety of restaurants serving up anything from the most exotic and ethnically diverse foods to good old Scottish grub. Be sure to try some haggis, it’s a mixture of oatmeal, onions, stock, spices and, yes, sheep’s heart, liver and lungs! Don’t let the sound of that put you off though, it actually tastes very, very good. There are plenty of pubs along Rose Street as well, and if you fancy something trendier head for George Street where the flash bars and clubs make for a refined night out.

Raucous hen and stag parties head for Grassmarket where the atmosphere is rip-roaring to say the least, so if you want the full works head here, while Lothian Road is home to many of the city’s clubs.

Shopper’s can head to Princes Street where you’ll get all the standard high street tours, and it’s a pleasant place for a bit of retail therapy with the Princes Gardens and Edinburgh Castle sitting handsomely on your left. He Royal Mile is also a good spot where you’ll get various souvenir shops.

For something a little zanier head for Grassmarket where you’ll get a hodgepodge of antique stores and arts and crafts boutiques, along with various other miscellaneous shops. You’re sure to pick up something different here!
