The Royal Mile

Edinburgh
This is the handsome old stretch that links Edinburgh Castle to Holyrood House, the magnificent palace with a long history dating back to the 15th century. Running through the gothic realm of the Old Town, it’s a popular tourist spot with a hoi polloi of pubs, restaurants and miscellaneous shops amidst the cobbled streets and side alleys and granite buildings. It's often referred to by the locals simply as high street, it becomes the focal point of the city during the Edinburgh Festival.
